NORTHERN SUN
Augustana beat Wayne State, Nebraska in five with a margin of 12 points. WSN led 2-1. Ellen Andrews (Bancroft-Rosalie, Nebraska) had 19.5 points for the Vikings. Mindy Moody (Sioux City Heelan) had 18.5 points for WSN.
MSU Mankato swept MSU Moorhead with a margin of 20 points. It was the Mavericks 5th straight win. Kimber Kuhl (Chaska) had 13.5 points for Mankato. Cathy Turner (New Prague) had 11 points for Moorhead. From the Mankato Free Press.
#8 SW MN State swept UM Crookston with a margin of 19 points. Kasey Loeslie (Tracy-Milroy-Balaton) had 13.5 points for SW. Amber Meyer (Paxton, NE) had 11 points for UMC.
Winona State beat Upper Iowa in four with a margin of 10 points. Jenna Padley (Lodi, WI) had 14 points for WSU. Beth Deutmeyer (Dyersville Beckman, IA) had 18 points for UIU.
The Northern Sun released their all Conference list prior to the end of the season.
Concordia St. Paul's Maggie McNamara (Zumbrota-Mazeppa) was named player of the year.
Concordia St. Paul's Mary Slinger (Bethlehem Academy) was named libero of the year.
SW MN State's Devin Diedrich (Braham) was named freshman of the year.
Concordia St. Paul's Brady Starkey was named coach of the year.
CSP had 6 on the AC list
SW had 3 on the AC list, 1 HM
UMD had 2 AC, 2 HM.
Augustana had 2 AC and 3 HMs.
COACHING

PRESEASON OUTLOOK
NORTHERN SUN
The Northern Sun conference released their preseason picks and Concordia St. Paul is the favorite to take the title with 12 votes. CSP's Maggie McNamara has been named preseason player of the year. UM Duluth and MSU Mankato each had one vote for first and are picked for second and third respectively. UMD has a video report from the Northland's NewsCenter with Coach Boos and setter Katie Gangelhoff interviewed.
Southwest MN State is picked for 4th.
Bemidji State is picked for 11th.

Illinois held media day on Wednesday.
Indiana will hold Hoosier Hitter Clinics this fall.

Northern Sun Tournament Opens

NORTHERN SUN TOURNAMENT
There were three sweeps in the opening round of the Northern Sun tournament. There were no upsets as the top seeded teams all advanced. MSU Moorhead's four game win over Winona State was the anomaly. Megan Norling of MSU Moorhead had 17 kills. From the Fargo Forum.
Concordia St. Paul beat Bemidji State. Emily Palkert (SW Christian Chaska) had 17 kills for CSP.
SW MN State topped Mary. Erin Contons (Apple Valley) had 16 kills for SW MN State. Leah Ashburn (Buffalo Lake-Hector) had 14 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. The Marshall Independent says the Mustangs played strong.
Wayne State stopped Northern State. Emily Schroeder had 16 kills for WSC.
Concordia St. Paul will host the Northern Sun tournament this weekend.
