SDSU; UMD vs CSP; Whitewater in Finals

BIG 10
Northwestern beat Iowa in four.

Ohio State upended Illinois in four.

Purdue squeaked by Michigan in four.

#1 Penn State solidified their hold on the top spot with another four game win over #9 Wisconsin.

Others
South Dakota State advanced to the finals in the Summit Tournament with a sweep over Western Illinois. Amy Anderson (Huron, SD) had a triple double for SDSU with 11 kills, 10 digs and 10 blocks (1 solo).

IPFW stopped North Dakota State in four. Christy Stuewe (Mayer Lutheran) had a triple double with 19 kills, 20 digs and 10 blocks (2 solo) for NDSU. She also finished her career right at 1000 kills.

NORTH CENTRAL REGIONAL
Concordia St. Paul beat SW MN State in a sweep. Emily Palkert (SW Christian Chaska) had 17 kills for CSP.

UM Duluth swept UN Omaha. Vicky Braegelmann (Albany) had 19 kills for UMD.

Wayne State, UW Whitewater Win Tournaments

It was the final regular matches for the North Central. The conference won't exist next year.
#17 Augustana beat St. Cloud State in four.

MSU Mankato swept North Dakota

#1 UM Duluth swept South Dakota. Vicky Braegelmann (Albany) had 22 kills for UMD.

NORTHERN SUN TOURNAMENT
Wayne State beat MSU Moorhead in four in a battle of upstart upset winners in the Northern Sun tournament at Concordia St. Paul. It is Wayne State's first NSIC championship and they will be going to the NCAA tournament. From the Fargo Forum.

UW Whitewater outlasted host St. Thomas in five. UWW won games 2 and 3. The fifth game went 15-13. Whitewater now moves on to the D3 final 8 tournament Bloomington, Illinois November 15-17.

Upsets Rock Northern Sun, St. Thomas vs Whitewater in D3

NORTHERN SUN TOURNAMENT
Upsets were the rule of the day in the semifinals

#4 seed MSU Moorhead downed host, league champ and #x in the country Concordia St. Paul in four. It was CSP's first loss ever in the Northern Sun tournament.

#3 seed Wayne State upended #2 seed (#9 in the country) SW MN State also in four.

Moorhead faces Wayne State at 7 pm tonight.

NORTH CENTRAL
#17 Augustana topped North Dakota in four. Cayla Schroeder (Kasson-Mantorville) had 24 kills for Augustana.

South Dakota bumped St. Cloud State in a sweep.

D3 REPORTS

Host St. Thomas beat Central in a fiver. photos and stats galore. St. Thomas' Thanh Pham was named regional coach of year

UW Whitewater swept Bethel.

MIDEAST REGIONAL
Washington MO beat UW Oshkosh in five.

North Central, Northern Sun Players of the Week

NORTH CENTRAL
The North Central has named their players of the week and UM Duluth has two more honors: Sarah Wyffels picked up the offensive award while Danielle Beckstrand was named defensive player. Lisa Hoegh of Augustana prevented the sweep with the setter award.
This is Wyffels and Hoegh's second honor this season.

NORTHERN SUN
Kelci Guenther of MSU Moorhead was named offensive player of the week, Sara Graff of SW MN State was the setter of the week, and Calla Oftedahl of MSU Moorhead took the defensive player honors in the Northern Sun. It is Graff's third award this year, and Oftedahl's second. Guenther won a defensive award earlier in the year. This is her first offensive honor.

D3 REPORTS
St. Benedict has been invited to the D3 tournament. St. Thomas will host the event on November 8-10. Other MIAC teams going include Concordia Moorhead, Bethel (St. Benedict's opponent), Carleton, and the hosts St. Thomas. Here is the entire D3 bracket.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE
National defending champ Ridgewater advanced to the national tournament with a sweep over Madison Area Technical College. From the West Central Tribune.

St. Thomas, Northland, Whitewater Tourney Winners

MIAC CHAMPIONSHIP
St. Thomas swept St. Benedict. It is the second time in three years St. Thomas was unblemished in the regular season and playoffs. St. Thomas receives an automatic bid to the D3 tournament.

UMAC TOURNAMENT
It seems if 5 was the order for the tournament. On Friday:
Bethany Lutheran beat St. Scholastica in five.

#4 seed Northland upset #1 seed Northwestern in five

Saturday, Northland took the championship with another fiver with Bethany Lutheran.

WIAC CHAMPIONSHIP
Whitewater ended Platteville's Cinderella run with a four game win.

In the 3rd place game LaCrosse beat Eau Claire in five.

Platteville's Cinderella Run Continues, Ridgewater Wins

#7 seed Platteville upset #3 seed Eau Claire in four.

#1 seed Whitewater swept LaCrosse.

Platteville hopes to continue their Cinderella run today when they face Whitewater at 2 pm.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE REGIONAL

Ridgewater roasted Milwaukee Area CC in a sweep. MACC never had more than 15. Next up is Madison Area CTC in Madison at 1 pm today. From the West Central Tribune.

#7 SW MN State blanked UM Crookston.

Carleton defeated St. Mary's in four. With the win Carleton clinched a playoff spot.

Gustavus triumphed over Macalester in four. It was Gustavus' 750th win in their volleyball program.

Contons Breaks D2 Record

Indiana beat Purdue in four winning the Monon Spike for the first time in five years. Purdue's Kelli Miller set a new match record with 40 digs on the night.

Gopher Kelly Roysland won the Patty Berg Legacy Scholar-Athlete Award yesterday.

UW Milwaukee edged Marquette.

NORTHERN SUN
#4 Concordia St. Paul swept Bemidji State. CSP's Mary Slinger (Bethlehem Academy) had 33 digs on the night.

#7 SW MN State triumphed over Northern State in four. In the match Erin Contons broke the NCAA DII career attack attempts record. She now has 6,128 attempts with the previous record at 6,091

St. Olaf upset #23 Bethel in four. St. Olaf's Kim Smisek (Northfield) had 27 kills.

St. Benedict outlasted Carleton in a fiver. Laurel Heggernes (Mora) had a hand in 10 blocks for St. Benedict. Beth Hanson (Bethlehem Academy) had a career high 67 assists for St. B. St. Benedict has clinched a spot in the MIAC playoffs.

St. Cloud State blanked Valley City State. The Huskies Jennifer Waterman (Andover) set a new assist record for the school with 860 so far.

St. Mary's Wins Maryland Tournament

Bethany Lutheran beat St. Scholastica in four.

UM Morris ruled Crown in three.

Northland bumped Martin Luther in three.

TOURNAMENTS
St. Mary's won twice in Maryland on Saturday, and in so doing won the McDaniel Green Terror Invitational with sweeps over Marymount and host McDaniel

WARTBURG
Bethel won twice, once over the hosts in four and four game win over River Falls. Overall Bethel finished third. Bethel's Liz Glesne made the all tournament team.

UW River Falls took it on the chin twice with losses to Augustana, IL in five and then a four game loss to Bethel.

Augsburg also fell twice with sweeps to Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Fergus Falls swept Riverland.

Northland blanked Hibbing.

#1 Nebraska shut out Iowa State. Erin Boeve (Hills-Beaver Creek) had four kills for ISU.

Hofstra topped Fairfield in four snapping a 7 game winning streak. Karlie Urbaniak (Mabel-Canton) had 11 kills and Lauren Wagner (Cretin-Derham Hall) had 3 kills for Fairfield.

Carleton won two more matches on Saturday with wins over Buena Vista and Coe. The Knights were unblemished for the event.

Gustavus won twice over Buena Vista and Coe.

St. Thomas beat Simpson, but fell to Central

Simpson upended Concordia Moorhead, but the Cobbers were able to get a win over Central.

Katie McCaffrey of St. Thomas was named MVP of the tournament.
