In their own tournament, Cincinnati swept Wright State 17-20-20. Kelsey Brandl (Lakeville North) had 9 points, 8 on kills, for the Bearcats.

In their own tournament, Colorado State swept Arkansas 16-18-18.

At the UW Milwaukee tournament Iowa State split matches with a 3-1 win over Illinois State followed by a 3-2 loss to the hosts. Diane Kieger (Mounds View) played one game in the UWM match.

Denver swept Eastern Washington at the Colorado State Tournament.

In the Georgia tournament Furman beat Georgia State 3-1. Pamela Gehrke of Eastview had 2 digs for the Paladins.

George Washington beat American 3-2 in the DC Challenge. Abby Syverson of Minneapolis Southwest had 11 points, 6 on kills for GW.

Houston beat Marquette 3-1. Leslie Bielski (Chaska) had 11.5 points--9 kills-- for Marquette.

Marshall swept Tennessee Tech (26-24)-16-23. Megan Carlson (Andover) had 8 points--6 kills--for the Thundering Herd.

Virginia Tech beat Maryland Eastern Shore in four.

In the Cal State Monterrey tournament North Dakota swept Humboldt State. Amanda Polzin (Hutchinson) had 9 points--8 kills for the Fighting Sioux. UND then beat the hosts in four. Devin Trefz (Bagley) had 12.5 points--11 kills in that match for the Sioux.

In the Montana tournament UC Riverside beat North Dakota State in five. Lauren McLaughlin (Cary-Grove, IL) had 26 points--24 kills for NDSU. Kristen Hille (Sauk Rapids) had 19 points--all kills also for NDSU.

Northern Iowa swept North Florida 13-10-17. Amy Sampson (Champlin Park) had 3.5 points for the Panthers.

Rhode Island split at the Quinnipiac Tournament Friday. The Rams lost to Towson State and beat Morgan State.

South Carolina lost to host Arizona in a sweep. Bridget Denson-Dorman (Hopkins) had 17 assists for the Gamecocks. USC then beat Dayton 3-1. BDD had 37 assists in that contest along with 15 digs.

South Dakota State won their first match for coach Nana Allison-Brewer. SDSU beat Southeast Missouri 3-1 at Middle Tennessee State's tournament.

Texas Christian swept Louisiana Tech 18-21-17. Jess Menden (Shakopee) had five assists for TCU.

#6 UCLA swept Ohio 21-22-17. Amanda Andersen (Centennial) played in one game for the Bobcats.

Wake Forest swept Davidson 19-11-13. Brittany Narr (Minnehaha) had 1 dig for Davidson.

Montana State beat Portland 3-1 in the Montana State Tournament. Jennifer Sheedy (Totino-Grace) had 15 points--all kills for the Vikings.

Virginia swept Murray State 17-19-15. Marlow Bruneau (Lakeville) had 30 assists and 12 digs for the Cavaliers.

Former SDSU coach Andrew Palileo won his opener at Washington State with a 3-2 win over Cal State Northridge. Emily Rooney (Red Wing) had 17 points---12 kills for the Cougars.

Weber State split their contests yesterday with a sweep loss to host Arizona and then a sweep of their own against Gardner-Webb. Two Jackson County Central players, Brittney Bisaillon had 8 points Leah Burmeister had 3.5 points vs Arizona. Bisaillon had 11 kills against GW. Burmeister had 7 kills and 8 digs.
