SW MN State Knocks Off #1

SW MN STATE TOPS #1 GRAND VALLEY STATE
Southwest MN State beat the #1 team & defending DII National Champs Grand Valley State in five games, but they did it down 2-0. SW MN State also beat Angelo State 3-0. The Marshall Independent has more on the Florida Southern tournament. SW MN State also has a press release.

UM DULTH WINS TWICE
DII #5 UM Duluth had two 3-0 wins yesterday in the Northern Michigan Tournament. They beat Emporia State and UW Parkside. The brief information is found in the Duluth News Tribune.
St. Cloud State split in the same tournament. They lost to Northern Michigan 3-1, but beat Michigan Tech 3-1.

Bemidji State lost to Harding University 3-0 in the Lady Buff Classic in Canyon, Texas. More from the Bemidji Pioneer.

GOPHERS TO FACE ALUMNI
Tonight the Gophers will play ex-Gophers in an alumni game. It is free and open to the public. The match starts at 7 pm.

ALBANY EARLY BIRD
Maple Lake won the 8 team Albany Early Bird on Friday. They beat Rocori 20, 23 for the championship. You will have to scroll down a bit past soccer results, but the St. Cloud Times has the story
Zimmerman was 0-4 in the Albany Invitational. They lost to St. Cloud Apollo, Rocori, Albany, and New London-Spicer. Here is more from the Elk River Star.

Fulda beat Worthington 22-20 in game five in the opener for both teams. Worthington trailed 2-0 before mounting a comeback that came up just a bit short. Here is more in the Worthington Daily Globe.

HS PREVIEWS
Mankato West, with captain Katie Christensen, is the subject of a feature in the Mankato Free Press. They are looking to turn around a 3-24 season.

International Falls won their opener against Babbitt-Embarrass on Friday 3-0. IF made it to the 7AA semifinals last year. Here is more from the International Falls Daily Journal. More on Arrowhead volleyball from Friday in the Duluth News Tribune, but it is toward the end of the article.

Willmar was 28-3 last year and lost to Marshall in the section finals. They are looking to fill some holes left by graduation. Here is more from the West Central Tribune.
