AA Playoffs: 7 Upsets

AA PLAYOFFS
There was a full slate of section contests last night. There were 7 lower seeds beating higher seeds last night. Most involved #5s beating #4s.
The biggest upset came with #6 Montgomery-Lonsdale taking down #3 Watertown-Mayer in section 2 in a sweep.

1. #5W Zumbrota-Mazeppa beat #4W Byron in five. Byron had a 3 point advantage on the night. Plus three more results in the Red Wing Republican Eagle and Rochester Post Bulletin.
#1W Stewartville swept #8W Rochester Lourdes with a margin of 34 points. From the Rochester Post Bulletin.
#2W Pine Island swept #7W Cannon Falls with a margin of 28 points. From the RPB.
#3E St. Charles swept #6E Lake City with a margin of 39 points. Plus one other result from the Winona Daily News.

2. #1 in the state #1 East seed Jordan swept Waseca with a margin of 52 points. From the SW Scoreboard.
#6E Montgomery-Lonsdale swept #3E Watertown-Mayer with a margin of 9 points.
#5W Sibley East upset #4W Norwood-Young America in a sweep with a margin of 15 points.
#2W Blue Earth swept #7W St. Peter with a margin of 26 points. From the Fairmont Sentinel.

4. #5W Minneapolis North bumped off #4W Edison in five with a margin of 6 points. Edison led 2-1.

5. #5N Becker outlasted #4N Rush City in five. RC had a one point advantage for the night. Kelly McCall had 12 kills for the Bulldogs. Plus six more results from the St. Cloud Times.
#5S Orono dropped #4S Mound-Westonka in five. MW had a five point advantage for the night. MW led 2-1. Set four went to 29-27 for Orono.

8. #5S Detroit Lakes topped #4S Breckenridge in four with a margin of 3 points.
#1S Perham swept #8S Fergus Falls with a margin of 32 points. From the Fergus Falls Daily Journal.

#2N DGF beat #7N Crookston in four with a margin of 20 points. From the Fargo Fourm.

TONIGHT
Sections 3, 6 and 7 get underway tonight.

In 3: Marshall faces St. James. From the Marshall Independent.
