EAGAN wildcats 3, NEW PRAGUE trojans 0
(25-7, 25-16, 25-9)
The Eagan Wildcats swept New Prague with a margin of 43 points. Eagan plays a brutal schedule. Their record after tonight's win is 10-13. However ten of those losses were against teams in the top 10 polls. The other three losses came to teams in the receiving vote category. So the record is a bit deceptive. New Prague found that out tonight. The Trojans are 9-18 on the year.
The Wildcats used a stellar FBSO (first ball side out) game with a .867 % (26/30) for the night. On top of that the lowest scoring Eagan rotation checked in with .667, and the Wildcats had a shutout in runs of three or more 11-0.
In the first set Eagan was a perfect 8 for 8 in FBSO. NP's ball control forced poor hitting options while Eagan used their service game for five aces. NP was forced to take their first time out at 8-2, but the Wildcats were on the prowl soon after. Eagan racked up their biggest run of the night with six points off of Katie Kvas' serve including two aces. The second time out came at 18-5 but nothing in the Trojans arsenal could pierce Eagan FBSO defense. The Wildcats closed the set with another six point run.
The second set was the most competitive of any of the sets as NP got off to a 2-0 start. The Trojans maintained that lead up to 7-5 when the Wildcats turned the tables with a five point run on Kristin Ammerman's serve putting the hosts up 10-7 and forcing a NP time out. Both teams traded 8 side outs in a row, but two of them were NP service errors. Eagan had another five point service run in which NP took their second time out at 20-14. It didn't slow the Wildcats down as they added two more points to their totals.
NP came back to the East side of the gym in set three and for some reason there must have been a curse on the bench because Eagan again dominated with five runs in that set alone. Right from the start Eagan led 5-0 with Ammerman get the FBSO kill and then tacking of four points off her serve. The second NP time out came at 15-5 and after that it was a matter of time before the night ended.
