SECTION 4AAA
Quarterfinals
#2 STILLWATER ponies 3, #10 NORTH ST. PAUL polars 0
(25-11, 25-15, 25-10)

As expected the Stillwater Ponies swept North St. Paul with a margin of 39 points in the quarterfinals of 4AAA. For the night NSP had four first ball side outs which was good for .160. That factor along with 16 Pony aces made quick work of the Polars. As a team NSP had 13 kills on the night. Taylor Stippel of Stillwater had 11. Stippel ended up with 15.5 points on the night.

Again I charted this game and crossed another team off the Maxpreps top 50 list. Stillwater was #42 on the list. That means I have seen 72% of the top 50 teams with 14 teams left to go.

The Ponies surged forward with five points, four on Stippel's serve to make it 8-3. NSP added four right away to make it 8-7. After that the dam burst. NSP had trouble getting any side outs. When Adrianna Nora went back to serve with the score 14-9 she rattled off 8 points----7 of them aces. When NSP moved back Nora went short. When they crept up, she dropped serves behind them. Nora's serve had a wicked drop and two time outs didn't solve the riddle. There was a time when Stillwater led 23-9, but two points were taken away due to a erroneous call. It didn't slow the Ponies down at all.

The second set was the most competitive. Stillwater jumped out to a 15-5 lead after three servers. The Polars did fight back and had a run of three late in the second set to cut the margin to 23-15, but the die was cast. Emily McDonough had five kills in the second set to lead the Ponies.

The third set had some similarities with the first. NSP led 2-1. The lack of FBSO and the fact Stillwater had runs on three of their first four servers put the Ponies on the fast track. Stillwater's FBSO was the tightest at this stage with .750 (6/8) including four straight. Stippel had 6 kills in this set to lead Stillwater including the final kill.
