SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
In the Southeast Conference LeRoy-Ostrander was the west side winner and Mabel-Canton was the east side winner. M-C had beaten L-O 2 times earlier in the season. Mabel-Canton won by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-22. M-C was up 21-11 in the third game and held on for the sweep. M-C was led by Kate Horihan with 16 kills. She entered the night 12 kills behind the school record of 1,512 set by 2004 Karlie Urbaniak. She got kill #12 on an overpass smash to start the third set. M-C also got 9 kills a piece from outside hitters Lindsay Anderson and Celeste Bergey. Kayla O’Bieglo finished with 32 assists and junior libero Cassidy Whalen recorded 25 digs. L-O was led by Kaylee Bunne with 10 kills and Mac Bunne with 18 assists.
This was M-C’s 11th straight conference title and raises their season record to 33-2. M-C could play L-O again potentially as they are the 3 seed and M-C is the 2 seed. Wabasha-Kellogg is the #1 seed. Faribault BA is the #1 seed in the west half of the subsection. 1A is the roughest section in Class A.
