Gophers Lose 5th Straight Match

The Gopher volleyball team must have had a football player cough on them because they have now lost an uncharacteristic five matches in a row. The latest a sweep at the hands of Michigan State. The first two games were tight ones, the second lasting 35-33. This is the first time Michigan State has beat Minnesota in six years. Minnesota had 15 less swings that MSU. Again sideout % was 58% for the night.
Don't look for the Gophers to be in the top 20 next week.

Purdue tripped up #15 Michigan in four.

Northwestern blanked Iowa.

OTHER CONTESTS
North Dakota State, riding the football momentum, topped South Dakota State in four. Christy Stuewe (Mayer Lutheran) had 22 kills for the Bison.

#20 Ohio edged Northern Illinois in four.

Northern Iowa swept Creighton. Amy Sampson (Champlin Park) had 13 kills for UNI. Allie Oelke (Chaska) led Creighton with 12 kills. It was dig for the cure night at Creighton and they set a new attendance record.

San Diego outlasted Gonzaga in five. Laurel Abrahamson (Bloomington Jefferson) had 25 kills for San Diego.

Syracuse topped Marquette in four.
