EASTVIEW TOURNAMENT
5th place game
STEWARTVILLE tigers 2, FOREST LAKE rangers 0
(27-25, 25-22)
Stewartville stole a victory in game one and rode that momentum in game two to take 5th place at Eastview over Forest Lake.
Forest Lake jumped to an early 11-5 lead which forced Stewartville to take a time out. The Tigers took their second time out at 19-13 FL. After that Stewie outscored FL 14-5. FL had five hitting errors and three receiving errors in the run. FL led as much as 24-20 late but Julie Rainey served up four straight, including three straight aces to make it 25-24 Stewartville, but she missed deep on her fifth serve. The Stewartville block game came up with three points in the game including the side out to make it 26-25. Andrea Hogan had a hand in two of those points. A back row attack call on FL ended game one. FL explained that it was another player that hit the ball, but the officials did not change the call.
Game two was a tight affair with neither team getting too far out of sight from the other. Stewartville led 16-12, but then four straight points by FL tied it at 16 all. Then it was Stewie's turn to run off four, followed by a FL run of five. First ball side outs were in short supply. That was FL's last lead at 21-20. Stewartville closed with a 5-1 run with a block by Rainey for the final point.
