SHAKOPEE 3, HOPKINS 0

In a non conference match up Shakopee swept host Hopkins 17, 11, 15.

Shakopee started off on the right foot with four service points from Kaitlin O'Brien. Hopkins did close to 6-5 with a pair of kills by Cali Carnahan and #12 (Alex Luther?). Once Shakopee sided out they added four points off Jessica Menden's serve including two aces. After the second ace Hopkins took a time out. They did side out and scored one point on a Emily Foster dump. But Hopkins did not get side outs, while Shakopee did close the door. Hopkins burned another time out at 20-10 after a bump kill that the Hopkins defense didn't cover. They got the ball back on a rotation call, one of three for Shakopee on the night. On Emily Anderson's serve for Hopkins they closed to 22-16. A net violation gave the ball back to Shako and Maggie Geske put down an ace before serving into the net. O'Brien finished game one with a kill from the right side.

Shako took control early in game two and rode that momentum to the win. After the third Shako server the Sabers were up 9-4. Hopkins took their first time at 13-7 after a push kill error by Foster. They got the ball back on the Brittney Schroers missed serve. Mollie Geske took Shako to 16-9 and older sister Maggie served out the game with seven straight points including three aces. Maggie had five kills in this game.

In game three Shakopee again took control early after Mollie's serve the Sabers led 6-4. The game remained close during this stretch with Shakopee up 12-11 after another rotation call on Megan Theis' serve. Shakopee closed the game with a 13-4 run on the strength of Mollie Geske, Jessica Menden, and Maggie Geske's serve. Hopkins never was able to get the first ball side out.
