DIET COKE TOURNAMENT
#9 Minnesota lost to #2 Stanford 3-1 in the second day of the Diet Coke Classic. The Gophers took game one, but Stanford's depth and athleticism eventually was too much for the hosts. Also from the StarTribune.
But what is the reason for the long sleeves of Stanford? Did they think it was going to be cold in the sweat box? or are they trying to hide double hits?
#23 Ohio upset #12 San Diego in their second five game upset of the tournament.

Illinois had no problems with Texas A&M Corpus Christi in a sweep at the Rice Tournament
Indiana needed five games to top Jacksonville State. Host Tennessee then swept the Hoosiers in the finale of the Tennessee Tournament.
Iowa shared the Northern Colorado tournament title with Florida Gulf Coast. The Hawkeyes swept St. Francis and then beat the hosts 3-1 yesterday. Making the all tournament team was Megan Schipper and Laura Kremer.
#20 Michigan did not fall victim like their football team to upsets as they swept two opponents yesterday in the Miami, OH tournament. The Wolverines beat Pittsburgh and Wake Forest.
Michigan State won their own tournament with a sweep of Florida State. Katie Johnson was named MVP of the tournament.
Northwestern lost to UNLV 3-1 and then beat UC Santa Barbara by the same score in the Loyola Marymount tournament.
#17 Purdue survived in five over North Carolina and then fell to Utah in another marathon session.
#10 Wisconsin swept Northern Iowa and then turned the same trick on American in the BYU Tournament.

Fairfield lost to host St. John's in a sweep at the St. John's Invitational, then picked up their first win of the year with a sweep of NJIT. Karlie Urbaniak of Mabel-Canton tied a career high with five blocks in the NJIT contest.
Iowa State fell to host Arizona State 3-2 in the final match in the ASU tournament. Erin Boeve of Hills-Beaver Creek had 28 kills which equalled her career high in the loss.
Marquette split their games yesterday with a sweep over Oakland, but then were swept in turn by UT Arlington.
North Dakota State finished up the Duquesne tournament with two wins over a sweep over Youngstown State and a five game win over co-host Robert Morris. Kari Fagnan and Kristen Hille were named to the all tournament team.
Northern Iowa fell to #15 BYU and #10 Wisconsin in a pair of sweeps in the BYU Tournament. UNI's Danielle Brazda was named to the all tournament team.
Providence split yesterday with a sweep over the Citadel and a sweep loss to Jacksonville.
UW Green Bay split on Saturday with a sweep of Florida International and five game loss to Furman. Betty Slinger of Bethlehem Academy was named to the all tournament team.
