Braegelmann Picks Up 4th Honor

GOPHERS MOVE TO 23
The Minnesota Gophers moved up to 23 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. They are one of five Big 10 teams in the rankings with Penn State -2; Purdue-9; Wisconsin-14, and Ohio State -16.

MN STATE POLL
Stewartville moved up to #1 in AA in the latest poll bumping DGF from the top spot. DGF had 7 first place votes, the most by any team, but must have been lowballed on two other ballots.
Minneota remains #1 in A.
Eden Prairie is now the new #1 in AAA. Only Lake conference teams have been at the top this season with Chaska and Lakeville North the others that have ruled the roost.

AWARDS & HONORS
Vicky Braegelmann, UM Duluth picked up her 5th offensive player of the week award from the North Central conference., the most of any player this year. She is joined on the award platform with teammate Chelsea Meierotto who won her 3rd defensive award, again the most of any NCC player.
Both shared their respective awards with Tara Holmen, North Dakota for offense; and Christina Reicks, Nebraska Omaha for Defense. Reicks has two awards so far.
Not sharing an award was Setter Katie Agnew of Nebraska Omaha. She has two to her credit, but another UMD player Katie Gangelhoff leads the setter award with four.

In the Northern Sun Erin Contons, SW MN State won the Offensive Award for the 2nd time. Contons had 37 kills vs Northern State. She is tied with Concordia's Jessica Lucia with two wins.
On the defensive side Laura Dolezal, Wayne State picked up her 3rd award which is the tops of any defender.
On the setter side Lisa Dobie, Winona State won for the first time. It was the first time someone not named McNamara or Coleman won an award.

COLLEGE ACTION
Winona State won the battle of Winona over St. Mary's as you would think a D2 program would over a D3 13, 15, 21. From the Winona Daily News.

Dordt of the NAIA took Wayne State in five games. Wayne State had to rally to win in game four 31-29.

HS ACTION
#6AAA Marshall swept MACCRAY on Monday 13, 18, 15. Amanda Beekman put down 20 kills for Marshall. From the Marshall Independent.

Fergus Falls won game three 25-23, but Moorhead won the rest in a 3-1 win over the Otters. From the Fergus Falls Daily Journal and Fargo Forum. You can watch VB highlights at the Forum site through WDAY.

LATE ACTION
Crookston picked up one win over Fosston in the Perham tournament. From the Crookston Times.
