OUT & ABOUT: Apple Valley Tournament

If you have been following the tale this day, I started off at Eastview, on the east side of Apple Valley. They had their tournament and finished close to 1:10 pm. I then hightaled it out to Apple Valley about five minutes away. As a result I came in during the early part of the 3rd place game between Northfield and Bethlehem Academy. When I arrived Northfield led 4-3. BA briefly took the lead 5-4 on a Holly Hafemeyer kill. , but then Kim Smisek hammered down a kill to side out and she took on the serve herself. She served up the next five points and when BA got the ball back it was 10-6 Northfield. Northfield didn't trail after that point. BA did fight back and closed to 21-19 after three service points from #2 (name not in program). Northfield stopped the run with a dump by Katie McDonald. BA tied it up at 22, but Bridgette Kelly had a kill for Northfield to get the side out. Maggie Kruse then served up an ace and Kim Smisek and Haley Loesch each had a hand in a block.

BA jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the strength of Karianne Nass four service points including two aces. Northfield tied it at 8 on Megan Pumper three service points, including two aces. Smisek served up three points to take the lead at 12-9. They would not trail again. BA did tie it at 12, but another dump by McDonald put the momentum back in Northfield's hands. Kelly provided Northfield with points 16-18. Northfield did close the game with four straight side outs.
