Concordia Moorhead Wins MIAC Outright

I had practice early this morning

D1 ACTION
The Gophers beat Wisconsin last night & I had my report. Now here is the MN Daily with their take. The Star Tribune did have three paragraphs on the game on the back page, but no story, just a summary. Folks will still have to come here for details they won't get anywhere else.

D2 ACTION
Wayne State swept Nebraska Kearney 24, 14, 20 ending a 19 game losing streak to UNK. Also a new attendance record was set.

D3 ACTION
MIAC
Concordia Moorhead had brooms at the ready for St. Catherine 24, 25, 20 and won the MIAC title outright, the first in school history. CM has won 14 in a row.

Carleton swept Bethel 27, 27, 24, and is in the 6th and final spot for post season play.

Gustavus took out Macalester in four. The loss drops Macalester to 7th, and they would need to win their next two games.

Hamline upset St. Thomas in a fiver. It was the Pipers first win over St. Thomas since 1995 stretching back over 11 games. Both teams combined for 475 attacks. Hamline was about 100 points better on their attack game. Hamline & St. Thomas are tied at 6-4.

St. Benedict swept Augsburg 19, 19, 24 in parent's night at St. Ben's

St. Olaf took games 2, 3, and 5 over St. Mary's. Theresa Perrini, of St. Mary's had 39 digs in a lost cause.

NON CON
Platteville swept Loras 28, 17, 23. Platteville also had their second largest crowd ever.

JUCO ACTION
Itasca CC will go to the state tournament again for the fourth year. Last week they beat Vermilion and Mesabi and lost to Central Lakes. From the Grand Rapids Herald-Review.

SEEDINGS
#1AAA Chaska is the #1 seed in 6AAA as well. The semis will be at Prior Lake on Holloween. The finals will be Saturday Nov 4 at PL too. Any field that has Apple Valley as #6 is loaded. From the Chaska Herald.
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley is the #4 seed in 8AA. Pine River -Backus is #1. More on the seeds in the Walker Pilot-Independent.

LAST WEEK
Chatfield is now 10-0 in the Three Rivers. Last Week they beat Southland and Plainview-Elgin-Millville.

MILESTONE
MSU Mankato's Cassie Wolpern reached the 1000 dig mark. She is the 5th Maverick to reach that level.

POLICE BLOTTER
Katelyn Appelwick pled guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular operation in the crash that injured Winona State volleyball coach Connie Mettille. From the KARE 11 site no video.
