GOPHERS ALONE IN 2ND
After the fallout of this past weekend in the Big 10 the Minnesota Gophers do not share 2nd place with any team. Penn State hasn't been defeated this year and is alone in first. The Gophers next opponent is #14 Wisconsin who is 6-2 and in 3rd place. They play Wednesday.

The weekly AVCA poll will come out today. Here is hoping the Gophers are rated above teams they have beaten this year. Purdue was #9 last week and Ohio State #16. The Gophers beat Ohio State last Sunday, an event that apparently didn't register with the pollsters. The Gophers may still be under the weight of the first two tournaments where they weren't at full strength. With Bowman and Peniata in the lineup the Gophers are 11-1.

I hope the main media coverage isn't only this blog. It was pretty embarrassing to open the StarTribune and see no ink spilled on that Purdue game. With 8,000 fans, not to mention two top 25 teams, you would think some ink would be splashed. But then again in the HS side information is hard to come by.

Wisconsin did play yesterday on Sunday and they punished Indiana in a sweep 9, 17, 27.

In the battle of the Dakotas it was South Dakota State stopping North Dakota State in five in Fargo. The loss stopped a 7 game win streak for NDSU. It was SDSU's 9th straight win over their northern neighbor.

The New Ulm Journal reports on Martin Luther's four game win overSt. Scholastica. Martin Luther is 9-0 in the UMAC.
