Area Teams Fare Well at Premier Tourney

#2 UM Duluth swept #17 Cal State Los Angeles and followed that with a sweep of Regis at the Denver Premier tournament.

#25 SW MN State topped #24 Lock Haven in four and swept #11 Grand Valley State also at the Premier tournament. The Marshall Independent has more details on the double victory over ranked opponents.

Augustana also had success against ranked opponents with a pair of wins over #12 Central Missouri State in a sweep; and #13 Chico State in a fiver.

Also in Denver Concordia St. Paul picked up a pair of wins in the Days Inn-Denver West Volleyball Classic beating Western New Mexico in four and then Colorado Mines in a sweep.

South Dakota is now 7-0 with a pair of five game wins at Ramada Inn Invitational at St. Joseph, MO. The Coyotes beat Fort Hays State early and then Emporia State later in the day.

MN State Mankato lost for the first time in 2007 at the Rockhurst Fall Classic. MSU Mankato won the first contest against Wayne State. The Mavericks fell to Washburn in five.

St. Cloud State won twice over a pair of Saints at the Flyer Festival with a four game win over St. Joseph's College and St. Francis in a sweep.

UN Omaha had mixed results at Florida Southern Classic with a sweep loss to Pittsburg State and then pulling an upset over the hosts #5 Florida Southern in four.

Northern Michigan and Northern State both topped North Dakota, both in five, in the UND tournament in Grand Forks.

MN State Moorhead won twice in Grand Forks with wins over Northern Michigan and Chadron State.

Dickinson State swept UM Crookston also in the North Dakota Tournament.
