PLAYOFFS GALORE
The MN HS playoffs get underway tonight in six of the 18 sections. Here is the run down on each of the sections:
AAA
1. Owatonna is #1, but don't be stunned if Lakeville North shows up at the state tournament.
2. Marshall should make state
3. Cretin-Derham Hall with Lauren Gibbemeyer is #1, but Eagan is a dangerous #2.
4. Blaine is #1 and will probably face the winner of Andover #2, and Anoka #3 in the finals
5. Wayzata has the top seed and will probably see #2 St. Michael-Albertville in the finals.
6. The roughest, toughest, meanest section bar none. Chaska is #1, but look at the other teams in this donnybrook section: #2 Kennedy, #3 Eden Prairie; #4 Shakopee; #5 Eastview; #6 Apple Valley any one of these teams could make the big show.
7. They have the section divided into North & South with Hibbing and Forest Lake the #1s. Hibbing has the edge.
8. No seeds were seen at the MSHSL site.
AA
1. Wabasha-Kellogg is #1 in the East, Stewartville #1 West. Stewie is usually the entrant. Check them off again.
2. Montgomery-Lonsdale is #1 East, Belle Plaine #1 West. Look for Belle Plaine to make state
3. GFW is #1 North, St. James #1 South. The pick here is St. James.
4. St. Croix Lutheran is #1 East, Jordan #1 West. Jordan, Jordan, Jordan
5. Esko and St. Cloud Cathedral are the #1 seeds, but I am going with SCC.
6. only half of the section was seeded. Montevideo is the #1 in the south half.
7. Virginia and Pine River-Backus are the #1s, and yes Virginia their is State tournament in your future.
8. In the battle of the alphabets DGF gets the nod over LOW. LOW will not have their coach on the bench for the postseason.
A
1. Mabel-Canton (East) gets the nod over FBA (West)
2. KMS and Sleepy Eye St. Mary's are #1s in a wide geographic spread. I will take St. Mary's
3. Minneota and SW Star are the #1s. Minneota has been #1 most of the year and I won't change that.
4. Heritage and SW Christian (Chaska) are the #1s, but my choice is not a #1, but a #2 Meadow Creek
5. Hill City and Bertha-Hewitt are the #1s. My choice is Bertha-Hewitt.
6. Ulen-Hitterdal and Wheaton make the #1 list. Look for Ulen-Hitterdal to make the big event.
7. Cook and LFBF are the #1s. My choice is Cook
8. No listing was available but my choice will be Ada-Borup.
There you have my kiss of deaths for 18 sections.
