MEHHORTER VERBALS
Ari Mewhorter of Blaine has verballed Akron. The 6-0 middle plays with MN Select in the JO season. Mewhorter spent most of last high school year on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Mewhorter is the 11th player overall in the Minnesota 2009 class to verbal, and the 9th headed to a D1 program. Akron plays in the Mid America Conference.

SCRIMMAGES
St. Michael-Albertville hosted a six team scrimmage yesterday with Armstrong, Minnetonka, Benilde-St. Margaret's, Champlin Park, and Moorhead.

STMA will be headed to scrimmages at North St. Paul, and Wayzata this week.

D1 PRACTICES
Texas Christian has had a solid week of practice with Jess Menden of Shakopee getting her feet wet.

OLYMPICS
The American indoor volleyball team edged Poland in a fiver with the final game 15-13. Former Gopher Lindsey Berg shared setting duties.
