A Pair of Wins in Beijing, More on the Bachman Murder

GOOD STARTS
INDOOR
The Americans beat Japan in their first match. Former Gopher Lindsey Berg came into the match in the third game and helped turn the tide. They also have quotes from the team about the tragedy. From NBC Olympics.

BEACH
Former Gopher Nicole Branagh and teammate Elaine Youngs won their match on the beach. They defeated a Dutch pair 21-19, 27-25. NBC's Olympic site says the game was a struggle.

TRAGEDY
The StarTribune has more on the murder of Todd Bachman in Beijing. Bachman was the CEO of Bachman's. Bachman was with his wife and daughter Elisabeth at the Drum Tower when the attack occurred. Elisabeth played in the 2004 Olympics and is married to the men's volleyball coach.
The IOC has released a statement on the incident as well.
