Big 10 Season Opens; St. Thomas Wins Heavyweight Battle

BIG 10
The Big 10 season opened last night with #9 Wisconsin beating Illinois in four. The Illini won the first game 41-39 in a marathon.

MIAC ACTION
Bethel swept Hamline.

#25 Carleton topped Augsburg in four. Carleton setter Heather La Chapelle set a school record with 3024 career assists. Augsburg Julie Jenkins had her 5th career double double.

St. Benedict broomed St. Catherine. Emma Jaynes was named Athlete of the Week for the Blazers.

#6 St. Thomas defeated #11 Concordia Moorhead in four.

Gustavus beat St. Olaf in four. Jennifer Thelemann had 16 kills for Gustavus. Gustavus also had 18 blocks on the night.

WIAC ACTION
#3 Whitewater picked up a four game win over #19 LaCrosse.

#8 Oshkosh swept Platteville.

River Falls beat Superior in four. Mayer Lutheran's Kelsey Scheele had 23 kills for UWRF.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Ridgewater swept Anoka-Ramsey in South Division action. It was AR's first loss in the division. From the West Central Tribune.
