Unfortunately I thought this contest started at 7 pm. It didn't. It started at 5 pm, so when I arrived the fourth and what proved to be the final set was about to get under way. The game was moved up two hours so it wouldn't clash with the "powder puff" football game at Fridley. I didn't stay for that exhibition. As it was White Bear took the first two sets and the final in the win.

Fridley is one of the youngest teams around using five freshmen. Since I have no idea what transpired earlier I can only talk about the fourth set. Fridley fell behind early 10-4 when they took their first time out. Four of the Bear's points came on aces at that point. Another Bear four point burst took the score to 15-6 and a second Fridley time out. That was WBL's high water mark. After that Fridley battled back with their own four point run forcing a Bear time out at 16-11, The Tigers kept chipping and clawing back to get to trail by two at 21-19. A tip kill by Kelsey Bocklund put the ball back with WBL and the Bears never let go.
