PRIOR LAKE lakers 3, BUFFALO bison 0
(25-12, 25-10, 25-12)

In 2AAA playoffs #5 seed Prior Lake swept #12 Buffalo in convincing fashion. PL's margin of victory was 41 points and the Lakers had a first ball side out % of .741. PL didn't allow a run of 3 or more until late in the third set. Prior to that PL only allowed four two-point runs. Balance was also a key for the Lakers with five players scoring between 7 and 13 points on the night. With the win PL will face #4 seed Eden Prairie on Friday.

You might ask why this contest? I am still working off the top 50 list of Maxpreps and Prior Lake comes in at #47. The other teams were either too far away for me to get to after practice tonight, or aren't playing until later this week.

Buffalo started with the serve and came out with an ace on Danielle Goodfellow's serve. That lead didn't last very long. On the second PL serve Brittany Thompson started the first of 10 Laker runs with four in addition to the side out. The balance was already evident in the first set with four players connecting for three or more kills for PL. PL got the FBSO the last seven times against the Bison as they were off balance most of the night.

In set two PL jumped off to a six point lead off of Kirsten Schultz's serve. That prompted a time out by the Bison. Buffalo did stop PL on the next serve and shaved a point off the margin out to 10-5. The momentum soon swung back to PL with Thompson racking up five kills in the second set alone.

Buffalo enjoyed their biggest lead of the night at 2-0, but the Lakers quickly scored five straight. That lead mushroomed to 11-3 forcing a Bison time out. PL tacked on two more after the break to lead 13-3. Buffalo had their best sequence with a 8-4 run to cut the margin to 17-11. PL did make a few substitutions during this stretch. Once Sami Kemper stopped the run with a side out, Schultz delivered her serve for six more points and the margin was back in familiar territory. Schultz had three aces in that run. The match ended with both teams trading missed serves.
