BURNSVILLE TOURNAMENT
3rd Division
BELLE PLAINE tigers 2, HUTCHINSON tigers 0
(25-21, 25-19)

In the battle of the Tigers it was BP in a sweep over Hutch. Today I continued to cross of teams on my "to see" list. The odd thing was both of these quality teams had two losses on the opening night of the Burnsville so they were in the third division on Saturday. Hutchinson has received votes in the AAA polls for most of this season and Belle Plaine is #8 in the latest AA poll. Another odd fact was that Hutch was all alone in warm ups. Apparently they were to face Warroad, but the northern team didn't show up until later. BP had a brief warm up to fill that spot.

In the first set it was Hutch holding the advantage early at 6-4 until a five point swing for BP put the smaller Tigers up 9-6. Three Hutch hitting errors were part of that run. Hutchinson turned right around with a 6-1 run to put the bigger Tigers up 12-10. Hutch maintained their lead up to 17-14 when BP started their rally with a six point run, five off of Chelsea Fogarty's serve. Becky Koepp was also a big factor in the late BP 11-4 run with four kills. Hutch did tighten the contest at 20-22. A side out kill by Laura Schultz stopped the Hutch mini momentum and kept BP on track.

BP used that late surge to full effect in the second set. The smaller Tigers started set two with 9/10 first ball side outs. and that helped push them out to a 21-11 lead. BP had all four of their three point plus runs in that early part of the contest. Hutch mounted a comeback of their own with a 8-2 run to close to 23-19. Of those 8 points, six came off of BP errors. Schultz put down a key side out kill for 24 and Sam Johnson ended the Battle of the Tigers with a kill.
