HS Tournament Recaps
Rogers finished 2-2 in the Sauk Rapids Tournament. They opened with a 3 game win over Dassel-Cokato, and then lost to the hosts in two. St. Cloud Cathedral did the same two & out. Rogers finished the day with a three game win over Mora. From the Elk River Star News.

St. Cloud Cathedral won the Sauk Rapids tournament beating the hosts in the championship game. You will need to scroll down the HS recap section of the St. Cloud Times, but you will find team stats for the St. Cloud area schools. You will also get info on the Big Lake and North Branch tourneys.

I know people are breathlessly awaiting the SPA tourney results.

Well I got to Mpls Henry about 6:35 to wait for a 7 am bus to take us to the game. Unfortunately the bus was at SPA waiting to take us to Henry. Somewhere the bus folks got the wires crossed. We had an 8 am game against SPA. We get there at 8:20 and they tell us we had to forfeit the first game "to keep on schedule." So my players had to pay for the sins of the bus company and SPA got a pass. We could have played the games since it was only a two game max anyway. In the "second" game Henry led 9-5 early on, SPA took their first lead at 10-9. They continued to build on that lead and led by five at 20-15 and led 24-19 when they missed their serve. Wendy Vang served up three points all scored on SPA hitting errors to make the score 24-23, but Xylina Yang didn't control the ball and SPA escaped with the "match" with a 2-0 win at 25-23. Both teams had 1st ball sideout numbers at .417.

Henry faced Fridley in the pool next and Fridley led 5-2 early. Henry hung around with a 15-12 Fridley advantage when Fridley went on a 10-3 run to finish game one. Henry only picked up three points off their serve. Game two was all Fridley as they raced to an 8-0 lead on Caitlin McKernon's serve. For the match Fridley had FBSO at .737 and Henry .494.

Trinity was the next pool opponent and Henry picked up their only win with a 12, 15 sweep. Trinity led in game one 6-4 when Kiah Hanssen-Kilpatrick stepped to the service line. When she stepped away Henry Led 18-6. She serve up 14 points, 9 on aces as Trinity was having receiving issues. In game two Trinity led 13-11 before Carrie Moua and Wendy Vang had runs of 5 and 7 to finish the match. Henry had FBSO at .500, Trinity .462.

That set up a 5th place match with St. Anthony from pool B. StA had no real problems in game one as they jumped to a 6-0 lead. That set the tone for the rest of the game and StA won 25-9. In game two Henry led as late as 12-10. But rotation 6 gave up the lead 14-13. Henry trailed 19-17 after a Matha Her ace, but a kill from the right stopped her serve and the Patriots never got the ball back. FBSO had StA at .529, and Henry a miserable .167.
