Hermantown Tops Hibbing + More

HS GAME REPORTS
Hermantown beat Hibbing 10-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-16, 16-14 in a battle between 7AAA powers in Hibbing. Blair Murphy, Hermantown had 18 kills on the night.
Owatonna swept Mankato West 14, 17, 15 in Big 9 conference action. 10 Owatonna players notched a kill in the match. Story from the Mankato Free Press.
Maple Grove topped Rogers in a battle between 5AAA rivals 19, 15, 12. Story from the Elk River Star News from the Rogers perspective.
Moorhead swept Hawley 12, 13, 20. The Fargo Forum has the box.
DGF swept Detroit Lakes 22, 11, 15. Jennifer Lopez, no not the actress, had 14 kills. Box in the Fargo Forum.
Kasey Uran, Sartell had 21 kills and 25 digs in a sweep over Monticello. This game and more found deep in the St. Cloud Times.
Willmar service game toppled Fergus Falls in three 26-24, 25-23, 25-19. Heather Thoma had 10 aces for Willmar. Samantha Revering, Fergus Falls hurt her ankle in warm ups and did not play. More in the West Central Tribune.

Minneapolis Southwest sided out at .679 in a 3-0 win over Mpls Henry 17, 6, 18.
In game one Henry led 8-7, but in the fifth rotation SW took the lead for good 14-10. SW then had three side outs when Henry was serving preventing any rally.
SW dominated game two as they led 10-2 after one rotation. Unfortunately there were no programs to identify the players. But #9 served up nine points including 3 aces. The only earned Henry point came on the first point with Stef Zappa's ace. All other points were courtesy of SW errors.
Game 3 was fairly tight with Henry leading at 12-11. Then SW scored 9 straight points on rotation 6 to go up 20-13. During #8's serve Henry had four hitting errors and three aces. Henry did close to 22-16, but SW finished up with two more side outs to prevent any rally.
For the game SW sided out at .679, Henry .333
Stef Zappa led Henry with 3 aces, and one kill for four points.

COLLEGE GAME REPORTS

Ridgewater will be hosting a two day tournament today and tomorrow in Willmar. Mesabi Range, Bismarck State, Ellsworth, Des Moines, Hibbing, Riverland, Rochester, Vermilion, Western Wisconsin Tech, Fergus Falls, Anoka-Ramsey, Minnesota West and Bethel JV fill out the field.
