Gophers All There, Concordia Moorhead Tops St. Thomas

GOPHERS ALL TOGETHER
Minnesota beat Northern Iowa in Rochester Wednesday night 3-1. Malama Peniata played in her first game of the year, so in effect it was the first game for the Gophers at full strength. Peniata celebrated with 41 digs which tied a Minnesota record held be former libero Paula Gentil. Story from the MN Daily. Also the University has their own press release. The Gophers host their own tournament this weekend.

MIAC ACTION
#7 Concordia Moorhead upset #4 St. Thomas in St. Paul in four. Becca Shane had 27 kills for CM.

St. Olaf trailed 5-1 in the deciding 5th game to Macalester and came back with a 17-15 win.

Gustavus swept Hamline 25, 19, 25. Also story in the Mankato Free Press.

Liz Glesne of Bethel picked up her 1000th kill in a sweep of St. Mary's.

# 16 Carleton lost the first game but picked up three in a row after that in beating Augsburg.

St. Benedict topped St. Catherine in St. Joseph 9, 28, 15. St. Ben's hit .588 in the first game.

St. James beat New Ulm on Monday in 4. The Saints are looking for their second South Central title.

Forest Lake had a busy few days. They opened with a 3-0 win over Grand Rapids on Friday. Saturday they took 3rd in the Coon Rapids Tournament. The Whirlwind action took its toll with Anoka sweeping FL on Monday.

USC beat Randolph in four to even their record at 1-1 in the Gopher conference. This game & more in the Albert Lea Tribune.

HS ACTION LAST NIGHT
Mpls Henry beat their neighbors North 8, 5, 11. Henry got off to a quick start with a 9-0 lead after Stef Zappa's serve. She had 7 aces on the night all in the first game. Five of North's points came on missed Henry serves.
In game two Henry sided out at 100%. Lucia Carver, Kiah Hanssen-Kilpatrick, and Matha Her had service runs of 5, 6, and 8.
Game 3 started off just like the rest only more so. After both teams had a side out, Carver served 16 straight points puncuated with five more aces. She ended up with 8 on the night. The entire Henry bench played in game 3 with many players seeing action for the first time.
Henry sided out at .737, North at .474.
