Marshall Starts 2-0 in Tournament

OSSEO TOURNAMENT
Henry traveled to the Osseo tournament to face three section five teams. The Patriots lost to Osseo 25-5, 25-10, and to Armstrong 25-15, 25-8 in pool play. Later in the Bronze pool they beat DeLaSalle 25-17, 25-20. So that made their Section record 1-2. They finished the tournament with a 26-24, 25-19 loss to St. Paul Johnson.
In the first Osseo game all the Henry points came on missed Osseo serves.
Stef Zappa came to the touranment after finishing class and her presence made an immediate impact. In the first four games Henry averaged 8 receiving errors per game. After her arrival the ball control was better and they only averaged 1.25 receiving errors per game. The first ball side out % also improved with Osseo .077; Armstrong .267; DeLaSalle .600; and St. Paul Johnson .520.
In the gold division (top division) Osseo, Rochester Mayo, and St. Michael-Albertville were battling for the top spot.

There will be more reports later tomorrow with finals from Apple Valley and Marshall among others.

Speaking of Marshall they opened their own tournament with two wins over Benilde-St. Margaret's and Owatonna. The Marshall Independent has more details.
Willmar was also at the tournament, but had just the opposite experience with losses to Andover and Eastview. From the West Central Tribune.

LATE THURSDAY
JWP beat USC in five games in a battle between the initials. JWP gained victories in games two, three and five (15-6). All this and some more area action in the Albert Lea Tribune.

MSCTC Fergus Falls swept Riverland 14, 27, 28. from the Fergus Falls Daily Journal. Later in the same article the HS game won by Ulen-Hitterdal over West Central 3-1 is also mentioned.
