Gophers beat St. Louis, Starkey Wins 100

COLLEGE TOURNAMENT REPORTS

Minnesota beat host St. Louis in four Friday night. The squad was without seniors Kelly Bowman and Marci Peniata who have to sit out due to NCAA rules violations.
South Dakota State beat a Pac 10 team for the second time in a row as they cameback in dramatic fashion over Oregon State 27-30, 27-30, 31-29, 30-25, 15-6. All this took place in the Wisconsin InnTowner tournament. more from the SDSU press release.
North Dakota State took Iowa to five games before falling 15-10 in the fifth game. Iowa won the first two games before NDSU came back for 3 & 4. Sheila Parrish had 29 kills. All this took place in the Creighton tournament. From the NDSU press release.

Concordia St. Paul swept Central Missouri and host Regis in the Denver Premier tournament. In the win against Regis coach Joe Starkey picked up win #100. His record now stands at 100-12.
UMD LOSES
UM Duluth lost for the first time Friday night in a five game match with Florida Southern. Florida Southern came back after losing the first two games 20, 21. The next three games were decided by two points and UMD was on the short end each time. More from the UMD Press release.
SW MN STATE OPENS 2-0 IN MISSOURI WESTERN
Southwest MN State swept both oppenents on Friday in the Missouri Western tournament in St. Joseph. They opened with a 17, 26, 28 win over Fort Hays State, and then finished the day with a 31-29, 28, 28 squeaker wins over Emporia State. Story from the Marshall Independent.

South Dakota lost their first two matches to Mary and Northern State.
St. Cloud State also lost two matches Northern State and Dickinson State.
MSU Moorhead split with a win over Dickinson State, and a loss to MSU Mankato
Winona State split at the Flyer Festival at Lewis University. They beat St. Xavier, IL and lost to Michigan Tech in five.

JUCO GAMES
RIDGEWATER TOURNAMENT
Ridgewater won four times on Friday in their own tournament. They beat Mesabi Range, Bismarck State, and then two Iowa schools: Ellsworth and Des Moines. They are done for their tournament and play next Wednesday. More in the West Central Tribune.
