AERIE CHALLENGE
Pool D Championship
STEWARTVILLE tigers 2, HASTINGS raiders 0
(25-12, 25-13)

Stewartville topped Hastings to move on to the semifinal round of the Aerie Challenge in Apple Valley. Stewartville's FBSO game limited any Raider momentum. Julie Rainey had 8 kills for the Tigers on the night.

Stewartville jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back in game one. Julie Rainey knocked down the first kill of the night on the first ball. The Tigers led 10-7 when Hastings started piling up unforced errors for Stewartville. Hastings took a time out at 14-7 and got the ball back on a kill by Elly Braaten. She added another before Emily Rainey put an end to the mini run with a setter dump. She then added two aces in a three point service. The next Raider time out came at 21-10. The end of the game featured three straight missed serves.

Hastings held a slight advantage in the early portion of the second game. The high water mark for Hastings came at 10-8 after three points on Stewartville hitting errors and lifts. A missed serve put the ball into Stephanie York's hands and Julie Rainey helped the Tiger cause with five of the next seven points on kills. Hastings did take a time out and did stop the flow. However after a Hastings passing error to make it 18-13, they never saw the ball again. The Raiders gave Stewartville seven of the last eight points on hitting errors.
