APPLE VALLEY TOURNAMENT
The #1 in the QRF Minnesota Scores poll beat the #1 in the Coaches poll in the finals of the Apple Valley tournament Saturday. Defending AAA Champs Shakopee swept Chaska in two 25-14 and 25-15.
In the third place contest Eden Prairie took out Owatonna 2 - 0. It was EP's highest finish in 5 years at the event.

ST. PAUL ACADEMY TOURNAMENT
That is where I was today with my team Henry. The Patriots eventually finished in 7th place out of the eight teams. They day got off to an extremely rocky start with the hosts beating the Patriots in the first set 25-10. Henry missed SIX CONSECUTIVE serves. On the seventh the Patriots squeezed off a point, but then MISSED again. You don't win too many times giftwrapping points for the opposition. Six cones would have outscored the patriots in that contest. Henry did bounce back with a 25-13 win in the second set. They found a gps device to get over the net.
Minnehaha and St. Paul Harding both swept Henry in pool play. Henry struggled with scores of 10-8-7 before breaking through with 20 in the second set with Harding.

Henry won the friendship game with Trinity winning the first set 25-18, dropping the second 25-23 after trailing 7-2 and 22-18. Henry tied it up at 23 but unforced errors doomed their chances. The third set looked like a repeat of the second with Trinity jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Henry tied it at 9. Trinity responded with a three point run to lead 12-9. Henry finished the contest with a 6-1 run to win the match.

No word on who won the championship match between Minnehaha and Fridley.
